That almost sounds like "oil and water." It's easy to fall off the wagon and into the buffet of cookies, holiday treats, h'ordeuvres and of course the main course, and dessert...pies, ice cream... The ghost of Christmas past is tapping on your shoulder...remember...the gym...as you unbutton the top button of your pants. As it gets closer to New Years you wear those "comfortable" pants... the larger shirts because your 6-pack abs are now in hiding.
Many of us don't get back to the gym ("what's that?" my husband starts to say after we miss going for a week. I say, "That place that smells like bacon." The Las Vegas Athletic club's cafe makes bacon...) until week 2 of January when our lives settle back into some type of pattern.
Imagine what it would be like to make all of your gym "dates?" What if, without engaging your conscious mind, you just put on your gym clothes and drove out to the club for your workout?
2011 is a fresh new year. There are a growing number of people who are very positive about making 2011 a year to reinvent their lives and their careers/businesses.
Keeping true to your gym schedule (or starting one) is a powerful way to tell your subconscious mind that things are going to be different this year, that you are making powerful choices for an exceptional 2011.
Have you been away from exercise for a while? Here are three tips to get started:
1. Start very slowly and easily. Start going for a short walk every day. Go to the gym for a half hour and just walk a little on a treadmill, try out a few of the machines.
2. Pick up the pace after a week. You may find that this happens naturally. If you go to the gym, see if they offer a complimentary session with a trainer. Find out the right way to use the machines.
3. On a calendar, mark out two weeks before the day you start. Tell yourself that you have been going for the past two weeks, so you wouldn't want to miss today!
Whether you start, continue or don't exercise... the choice is yours. Whatever you decide, join us for the life reinvention in 2011!
